Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Rubil is operated by BERNARD MOUSSA LTDA, a company registered in Brazil under CNPJ 31.102.248/0001-97. "Rubil", "we" and "us" mean that company. Our address is under Contact us.

Two other pages go with these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains what happens to your voice, your words and your account. Our Refund Policy explains how refunds work.

2. What Rubil does

Rubil turns what you say into written text and puts it where you are typing. When you dictate, Rubil cleans up and formats your words. It does not rewrite them. When you ask Rubil to write something for you, the result is labelled Generated, and your own words stay available.

Formatting is automated. We may change and improve Rubil over time.

3. Your account

• When you need one: The Mac and Windows apps need an account to dictate. The Chrome extension lets you try Rubil without one, within the free weekly limit.
• Keeping it safe: Keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• One person: An account is for one person. You cannot share, sell or transfer it.

4. Free and Pro

• Free: Rubil is free up to a weekly word limit.
• Pro: Pro gives one person unlimited words for a monthly or yearly price.
• Current details: The current limits, trial and prices are on rubil.io/pricing.
• Fair use: We may slow down or pause an account that sends automated requests, or uses Rubil in a way that makes it worse for other people.

5. Payment, cancellation and refunds

• Paddle: Paddle is our merchant of record. It handles checkout, billing, invoices and refunds.
• Renewal: Pro renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel.
• Cancelling: You can cancel at any time from the billing page in your Rubil dashboard. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. After that, your account moves to Free and you are not charged again.
• 30-day guarantee: If Pro is not for you, write to [email protected] within 30 days of any charge, monthly or yearly. We will refund that charge in full. When we refund a charge, Pro ends and your account moves to Free. Our Refund Policy explains how to ask.
• Your legal rights: If you live in Brazil, the Consumer Defense Code gives you 7 days to withdraw from a purchase made online. Our guarantee comes on top of that right and of any other right the law gives you. It never replaces them.
• Price changes: If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you at least 30 days before your next charge at the new price. You can cancel before then. If you are on a founding price, you keep it for as long as your subscription stays active.

6. Your words

• You own them: What you say and the text Rubil produces for you belong to you. We claim no rights over them.
• Our permission to process them: You allow us to process your recordings, your text and your Glossary to provide, maintain and secure Rubil, as our Privacy Policy describes.
• What we keep: Our servers do not keep your recordings or the text of your takes. Rubil keeps your History and notes on your computer. If those copies are deleted, or your device is lost, we cannot recover them.
• Your Glossary: Your Glossary is saved in your account. You can change it at any time and export it from your dashboard. Deleting your account deletes your Glossary and its suggestions.
• What you send: You decide what to insert, send or publish, and you are responsible for it. Check your text before you send it.

7. Acceptable use

When you use Rubil, you agree not to:

• Use it to break the law or to harm other people, including through harassment, threats or hate speech.
• Copy, decompile or reverse-engineer the apps, the extension or our servers, except where the law allows it.
• Send automated requests to our servers outside the normal use of the apps and the extension.
• Get around word limits, rate limits or sign-in.
• Share, resell or pass on your account.
• Do anything that damages Rubil or makes it worse for other people.

8. Services we rely on

Rubil uses other companies to run. They turn speech into text, clean up text, host our servers and take payment. Our Privacy Policy lists each one and what it receives. If one of them has an outage, parts of Rubil may stop working until it is fixed.

If you connect another account to Rubil, such as email, that service's own terms also apply to it.

9. Our property

The Rubil name, logo, apps, extension, website and technology belong to us. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Rubil as these terms allow. We can withdraw that right under section 10. You may not copy, change or redistribute Rubil, or build products from it.

10. Ending your use of Rubil

• By you: You can stop using Rubil at any time. To delete your account, choose Delete my account in Settings in your dashboard at rubil.io. This cancels Pro. Our Privacy Policy lists what deletion removes and what it does not.
• Your computer: Removing the Chrome extension removes what it stored in your browser. Removing the Mac or Windows app does not delete the files Rubil kept on your computer. Our Privacy Policy explains how to remove them.
• By us: We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or misuse Rubil. Where we can, we will tell you first. If we close a paid account for that reason, we do not refund the rest of the period, unless the law requires it.
• If we stop Rubil: If we decide to stop offering Rubil, we will tell you at least 30 days ahead, unless the law or a serious security problem makes that impossible.
• What continues: Your ownership of your words in section 6, and sections 11 and 13, still apply after your use of Rubil ends.

11. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, Rubil is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind beyond those in these terms.

• Speech recognition makes mistakes. Read your text before you send or publish it.
• Formatting is automated and may not match what you expected in every app.
• We cannot promise that Rubil will always be available or free of errors.
• Glossary suggestions are made automatically and can be wrong. Only add the ones you want.
• Rubil is not a medical device. Do not rely on it alone where a mistake could put someone's health or safety at risk.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when Rubil or the law changes. If a change matters to you, we will tell you in the apps, on the website or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you do not agree with the change, you can stop using Rubil and cancel Pro before that date. If you keep using Rubil after that date, the new terms apply.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. Disputes go to the courts of São Paulo, Brazil. If you use Rubil as a consumer, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live when the law allows it, and you keep any protection the law where you live gives you.
